The announcement that the
Tour de France 2014 is to be staged in Yorkshire is fabulous news. Even
better, Le Tour goes through Swaledale and Reeth. Even better still,
this world famous race goes past the Buck's front door. Yes, great
riders such as Bradley Wiggins will be within 20 feet of the Buck as they
storm down hill into the tight Buck right hand bend and through the village.

"Homely hotel in Reeth"
The
Buck at Reeth was originally a Coaching Inn dating back
to around 1760. There are many original features with
the main bar having aged beamed ceilings adorned with an
interesting array of horse brass and weird door knockers. There is of course a
real living fire and a genuine warm welcome from the
staff. During the summer months there is seating in the
sun to the front and ask about the secret walled garden.
TheBuck is one of the Dales most popular hostelries
and a favourite with locals. ‘Quality’ is
the keyword. This is most important for guests where the
bedrooms, food and ales have to be at their very best.
The
Buck Hotel is situated in the centre of Reeth, capital
of Swaledale. Overlooking the Village Green, it has
extensive views across the beautiful valley. The Buck
offers quality bed and breakfast with ten rooms offering
en-suite accommodation, fine food and an atmosphere you
would expect from a good Yorkshire Dales hotel.
We are
proud of the quality of our cask ales, which currently
includes Black Sheep Bitter, Copper Dragon Bitter,
Deauchars IPA, Timothy Taylor's Landlord plus guest
ales. The latest news is that we have been awarded the
Cask Marque 2012 symbol of quality hand-drawn
ales.
We are just as proud of the quality of our lagers,
ciders and of course Guinness. And if you are driving
there is a wide choice of fruit juices, teas, coffee and
alcohol free lager. Talking of tea, we have a wide range
of herbal teas plus decaf.
Reeth, the capital of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales
National Park, is appreciated by visitors for its easy
access to unspoilt and varied landscapes. The Buck is an
ideal base for walkers and cyclists. With a large number
of circular routes available from the village, the Buck
provides the ideal base for families and groups looking
to explore the Yorkshire Dales.
